Scientifically Monitored Results

BalancePoint Health, Inc., in conjunction with the BalancePoint Institute, has conducted a number of studies over the last three years to determine the effectiveness of the dietary protocol for various cardiovascular and metabolic conditions.

For the Jumpstart Program we use the standard lipid panel blood tests (the type of cholesterol readings most physicians use to determine cholesterol levels) for all protocol participants.

We also look at more detailed and sophisticated testing to determine cardiovascular and atherosclerotic risk, in other words, the risk for heart diseases and stroke. All blood tests are drawn at:

The Boulder Community Hospital Reference Lab for our local clients or

Any of the 1,700 LabCorp Patient Service Centers (PSC) located throughout the US.

BalancePoint employs advanced testing that measures all primary and secondary targets of therapy and selected emerging lipid risk factors by the NCEP ATP III guidelines.

  • NMR LipoProfile – Provides both traditional lipid values and the number of lipoprotein particles to better identify and manage patients at risk for Coronary Heart Disease.
  • (Not all LDL cholesterol is “bad”. The “small particle” LDLs are considered more harmful and are thought to be the waste product of the “large fluffy” LDLs needed for muscle repair. Statins generally target the “large fluffy” LDLs and in this way reduce the number of the waste product LDLs. This NMR testing shows that BalancePoint generally targets only the more harmful “small particle” LDLs without affecting the “large fluffy” LDLs.)
  • VAP Cholesterol Profile – Direct measurements provided for total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, VLDL, and lipoprotein subclasses. Provides conventional lipid panel information as well as additional information useful for further CHD risk assessment evaluation and identifies lipid-associated risk for Metabolic Syndrome. Measures hereditary risk factor Lp(a), remnant lipoproteins, and LDL pattern size and density.

  • Sphygmocor non-invasive test of arterial stiffness. It assesses the cardiovascular system and autonomic function using technology centered on a transfer function that derives the pressure wave at the ascending aorta. The transfer function is a patented mathematical model of the properties of the brachial artery and provides important central data through a non-invasive recording of the pressure wave at the radial artery. (This test is currently only performed at our Boulder, CO office.)
